PARK WISELY

When you park your car, try to park under lights, near security cameras, or in a well-traveled area. These make it more likely that someone will see a thief messing with your car and call the police. Thieves don’t like to be watched.

DON'T LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR WHEN YOU PARK

Don’t leave GPS’s, cell phones, purses, laptops, or shopping purchases in plain view, even if you’re parked at home. Secure them in the trunk, but make sure no one is looking when you do.

And if you do put your items in the trunk, lock the doors since the trunk can be popped from inside the car. Better yet, take valuables out of the car entirely. Thieves can see a GPS holder, laptop stand or charger, etc. and may take the chance that the item is still in the car.

KEEP YOURSELF INFORMED

Check e-mail,news papers, bulletin boards, etc. for “society Safety Alert” notices that pertain to specific security conditions in your society. Take advantage of informational program

MEET REGULARLY WITH YOUR CONTRACTOR

The easiest way to improve your security is to meet regularly with your security guard contractor. These meetings can be formal or informal and even be conducted by phone.  The purpose of these meeting should be to provide the contractor with feedback about guard performance.  By providing them with regular feedback, you will find incremental opportunities to improve your security service. Both parties can discuss topics like tenant feedback, feedback from any remote supervisory systems, guard attrition, and the result of security audits during these meetings. These regular meetings will help your contractor understand what is expected and find ways to achieve acceptable levels of service.

CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION (CCTV)

For higher end security system needs, CCTV is one of the most effective methods of protection. Through limited broadcast, each camera can be monitored through a single interface. Depending on the specifics of the system, footage can be monitored by an employee or digitally recorded. Place cameras strategically to achieve the maximum coverage for a single unit. Likewise, cameras or corresponding signs that are visible to guests and employees can be effective deterrents and create a safe environment. It is important to remember, however, that as effective as CCTV is, it should be used efficiently and in tandem with other measures. For example, installing a unit in an entry with an "airlock" door system allows extended footage of a person(s) entering or exiting the premises.

PAY ATTENTION TO STRANGE FACES

Always pay attention to strange faces within your area, try to identify who they are and where there are going.Engage such people in a conversation, by saying "Excuse me? are you trying to locate someone around here?
Pay attention to what they are wearing and other personal characteristics in case a description needs to be relayed to Security
